Oil Painting- I have always had a love for painting and I enjoy the flexibility and how workable oil paints are

An artist is someone who develops their own ideas and executes them with craftsmanship and heart.
How did you discover the Gateway Arts District?
I moved to the DC area in 2010, but it took me a few years to learn about the art happening in the gateway arts district. I visited Red dirt studios (it's old location) a couple years ago with a class I was taking at the Corcoran, and kept the area in my mind. When I was ready for a studio of my own I learned about the opening at ReCreative and I knew it was a perfect fit
If you could give your younger self a piece of advice about being an artist, what would it be?
Make time for art. There are a thousand other things happening in your life, but art is important to you, so make time for it.
What drives you?
I want to be a credible art teacher and part of that is continuing to feel the emotions and the struggle in the art making process
What is your greatest challenge as an artist?
Not allowing life to get in the way
What are you working on right now?
A couple oil painting, one of a rock climber. I am very much enjoying painting nature and the human figure in the same composition. A I have one wedding flower commission due in July.
